Sunday Worship at Church Cancelled

Lancashire County Council and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council Public Health Officials have asked for places worship to close forthwith owing to the severity of the current Covid-19 situation. In the light of this, St. Oswald’s Church will not be holding services until further notice.

In the meantime, we will post a national or Diocesan Church of England Sunday Service from 9am onward each week and a sermon by the Vicar or a colleague at 2pm all on the Blog. For further updates please also check the blog.

Please stay safe.

Faith groups across Lancashire are being urged to stop all communal prayer and worship for the whole of Lockdown 3 to help reduce the spread of the new Covid-19 variant.

Public health leaders from Lancashire County Council, Blackpool Council and Blackburn with Darwen Council have tonight (January 7) written a joint letter to all faith communities as the county reaches a “critical stage of the pandemic”.

They said the NHS in Lancashire is “under enormous strain” and argue there are “significant infection risks” to people socialising before and after worship.
