We had a fab time at our Harvest Festival!

We stuck leaves on a tree to say ‘Thankyou’ for the beauty of God’s world, we took fruit out of a bin to say ‘Sorry’ for our wastefulness (although it has to be said that many at St. Oswald’s are too poor to waste food), we lit or floated candles to pray for people or situations, and we all promised to do one thing this week to help save the planet. We also collected a small mountain of food tfor Blackburn Fodbank and collected money for the Bishop’s Harvest appeal.

We also celebrated Holy Communion and shared the bread and wine as Jesus asked us to. We plyaed percussion instruments in our final hymn, and, finally we were sent out to spread the Good News of God’s love. And all in 50 minutes!

The Brownies and Rainbows had helped to decorate the church, including a beautiful Altar Frontal. Thanks to them and to Pat and Beryl our flower arrangers who had done a good job despite illness!
