On Sunday afternoon we held our annual service of remembrance for our loved ones who had died. It was good to see many of our ‘funeral families’ again even though the occasion was solemn. We lit candles and read out a long list of names of those wom we had been asked to remember.
All of those who attended had been touched by sorrow: some had been touched by tragedy. Our job is to accompany people, to offer support wherever we can, to pray for them and their loved ones, and to listen. All this happened at this service and during refreshments afterwards.
Many of those who attended will have the name of their deceased loved ones inserted in our book of remembrance. This is open to anyone – neither you nor they need to have been church goers.
