Feast of St Thomas – Somme Sunday – Preacher Rev’d Dr Ros Lane

At 10am, we began our service with a period of silence before the collect for Somme Sunday was read.

Rev'd Dr Ros LaneRev’d Dr Ros Lane of Ely, Cambridgeshire was our visiting preacher today. In her insightful sermon she blended her work as Chaplain to The King’s School, Ely with a reflection on St Thomas and a sobre remembrance of the Battle of the Somme.

Our craft group began making a poster to finish next week. It will read ‘Blessed are those that do not see but still believe’ – which is a reference to Jesus’ words about people like us, who make our Christian journey by faith, having not been alive at the time Jesus lived.

Brody and MaxAt 12noon we welcomed Brody and Max to be baptized. Max gave a big smile to the Vicar just as she poured the baptismal water over his head. The families and friends of both these lovely little boys joined in the service with gusto and enthusiasm making this a really special and moving service. Several of the children discovered our prayer station with floating candles which kept them busy!
